Let Me Count the Ways

I made this little project last year for my husband for Valentine's Day.  I was looking in the scrapbook section at Tuesday Morning and this jumped out at me.
Of course it didn't have paint on it and this is the back of it but you get the idea.
So I snatched it up for 99 cents and came home and went to work.
I need to say right now how much I LOVE craft paint. Less than a buck a bottle and you can paint just about anything with that stuff.
So I grabbed some Valentinesy colors and some stickers left from my kid's Valentine's and tried to make it cute.
This is what I came up with.
A list of reasons why I love my husband.
Sometimes we can get so caught up in what annoys us or what we wish we could change that we need to remind ourselves of all the wonderful reasons they are number one in our lives.
After painting each "page" and letting dry, which I have no patience and that is why the backs are not painted.
I added the writing and stickers, then some cute ribbon to finish it off.
Before I wrote on it I brainstormed on paper any and everything I could come up, even things that might sound silly or special inside jokes.  It's truly the little things that make a relationship special.
The color is a little off on this pic because I tried to edit it to blur the words.
Some things don't need to be on the internet! ;)
So there is an inexpensive, thoughtful little something you can give your spouse this Valentine's Day.  And who says it has to be painted and covered in stickers?  I'm sure he would love it just as much scribbled on a post-it!

Better late than never

I realize that Valentine's Day was a couple months ago but since you could make these gifts for just about any holiday, I thought I'd give you a peek.

Now these were sooo easy you wouldn't believe it!  Just take a 12x12 sheet of scrapbook paper.  Whatever color or pattern fits the holiday.  Wrap it into the shape of a cone and staple - you could staple on a ribbon if you wanted also.  I just stapled the tag on over the original staple.  Fill with some yummy treats and give away!  The popcorn I put in them was covered in melted white chocolate mixed with crushed up peppermint candy.  Since it was so soon after Christmas I used candy canes but you could use mints anytime.  It was delicious and my friends loved it.  You could also fill them with fresh flowers.  I would love to hear what you would put in yours!

How many Valentine's do you need?!?!

The first time I went shopping after Christmas I saw shelves of Valentine's Day stuff.  Don't get me wrong I love Valentine's Day but when I was still recouping from all the demands of Christmas, Valentine's Day was not in the forefront of my mind.  Besides the fact, every year I stress about who I should make gifts for and where to draw the line.
I love giving gifts, I love making gifts the most, so I can get a little carried away when I see all this cute heart paper and stickers and goodies.  First there are the kid's teachers, then you have the office staff, then what about past teachers that I still love and talk to and of course the librarian, music teacher, PE staff and the school janitors!  Then there are friends, family, neighbors, the person in front of me at the grocery store!!  Like I said - carried away!  So this year I am limiting myself and trying to set a budget.  I made the cutest little gifts for the kid's teachers that I think are perfect for those people surrounded by germy little hands all day long!  The best part is they were cheap!!  I got the idea from a blog that of course now I cannot remember!

!I bought the bottles of hand sanitizer and peeled off the back label.  Well low and behold it left it all sticky so I just stuck the paper on it and didn't need any adhesive!  I bought one sheet of these stickers from Hobby Lobby and it covered all four bottles with some left over.  I'm going to put them in little clear baggies with ribbon when I give them on Friday.   Like I said - affordable and I think teachers cannot get enough hand sanitizer!   I'm going to try a couple more ideas so hopefully I'll get them on here before the 'day of love' is over!

I ♥ Valentine's Day!

I LOVE pink, so naturally I love Valentine's Day decorations, paper, stickers, you name it!  These are some mailboxes I made for the kid's teachers and grandparents last year.  We put little notes inside that said "The Top 10 Things I Love about Mrs. ______".  They loved them so much, I think I'm going to do it again this year.  I bought the mailboxes at Target (the best place in the world) and added the paper and ribbon.  They really weren't too hard but I'm going to try modge podge this year so I'll post pics when I get those done.
These were also fun to make with the kids.  It's so fun and simple to do, especially when you are snowed in!
First you use a pencil sharpener to sharpen the crayons onto wax paper.  We used red, pink and blue.
Then using the iron on the cool setting, iron the sheets together.  You might put the sheets between a towel so you don't ruin your iron.
Let them cool, cut out heart shapes and voila!  You have a great Valentine's window treatment! :)
Just be prepared for the big mess you will have to clean up!
